How We Are Organized

Just as the Church pursues its mission through all of its members, so AFP pursues its mission through the various ministries of its members. The ministers of AFP - Members, Diocesan Representatives, Executive Council, and Staff - each have specific responsibilities, and utilize their gifts in concert to help AFP carry out its mission.

Our AFP members live out the reality of prayer in their daily lives and live throughout North America. These individuals carry the message of AFP’s ministry, and have dedicated themselves to:

  • Pray each Day
  • Pray regularly with others
  • Read and study the Bible
  • Contribute financially to the Anglican Fellowship of Prayer Ministry

There are two or three Diocesan Representatives (DRs) in each diocese, who are appointed by the bishop to provide opportunities for workshops and materials on prayer for churches in their diocese. DR’s receive and distribute AFP materials at Diocesan Council/Convention, and keep the AFP staff informed of prayer opportunities which are taking place within the diocese. Diocesan representatives have agreed to:

  • Be faithful in attendance at Worship
  • Pray regularly with others
  • Foster and promote prayer within the diocese.
  • Initiate and coordinate AFP conferences and events within the diocese.
  • Provide AFP materials for parishes and at Annual Diocesan Council
  • Enlist AFP representatives in parishes

The AFP U. S. Executive Council is a group of 9 – 12 people, representing dioceses across the country. The Council works closely with the AFP staff to bring insights from their part of the country, and assist with the ministry of AFP. Executive Council Members are elected for three year terms, and agree to:

  • Be faithful in attendance at Worship
  • Pray regularly with others
  • Maintain contact and provide support to Bishops & Diocesan Representatives
  • Attend all meetings of the Executive Council.
  • Be a leader in Christian Stewardship, giving of time, talent and treasure
  • Enlist and support new Executive Council members
  • Assist in funding appeals when necessary

The Executive Director is a full-time employee of the Anglican Fellowship of Prayer, and is appointed by members of the Executive Council. The duties of the Executive Director are to:

  • Be faithful in attendance at Worship
  • Pray regularly with others.
  • Lead conferences and workshops on Prayer.
  • Maintain contact with ECUSA bishops.
  • Create & edit new curricula and materials.
  • Make regular funding appeals to members, parishes, bishops and foundations.
  • Be proactive in seeking out new opportunities for membership & financial growth.
  • Represent AFP to the Church.

The Executive Secretary is a full-time employee of the Anglican Fellowship of Prayer, and is appointed by the Executive Council. The responsibilities of the Executive Secretary are too numerous to count – everything from taking book tables to conferences to organizing international conferences to bookkeeping. The Executive Secretary maintains the AFP office in Orlando, FL, and is usually the voice you hear on the other end of the phone.
