Dream in League With God

Abraham Joshua Heschel said, some people insist on reading their prayers as if they are reading last week's newspaper. Others, however, attend carefully to what the words mean, think deeply of their consequences, and commit their very being to the prayer book's vision of a better world. Such people, Heschel tells us, know that "To pray is to dream in league with God."
